Session 59

Some time before the start of this adventure the crew leave the M27 mining droid that saved the Windthorn Inheritors with Rallec at Tann where he will convert it into something to help the colony, it will likely spend it's days repurposed for agriculture.

The Longhorn races to Phugno to escape two Night Shark Reef-Ripper Corvettes that have ambushed them in the Phugno system. The Longhorn takes a few knocks but with some expert flying from Aayla, some nifty co-piloting from Val, and some skilled power management by Jorus and with an undaunted Lorne in the Ion turret the Longhorn manages to Escape.

Lorne attempts to scan the cargo but without sufficient knowledge he is unable to get anything useful.

Aayla manages to wrangle with the snow storms of the upper atmosphere of Phugno and brings the ship to a safe landing outside the settlement of  Leugim-Nass. They load the cargo onto their X22 speeder and they head into town. A short distance from the ship they encounter two local kids, Mimin & Hujan. Val has a friendly chat with them and in exchange for a few credits he learns a few thing about the town, The Kimizi are in a large Hacienda complex on the outskirts of the west of town. And another group called the Panadera in a large multistorey town house to the east of town. The kids suspect the crew are working for one of the two groups and ask which one but Val doesn't say. They say the best place in town to stay (the only place the also admit) is Otina's Cantina, Otina is apparently the nicest person in town. The kids say they do odd jobs for the Kirmizi and the Panadera from time to time but clearly are weary of them. They warn the PCs to watch out for the Marshal.

On the way into town the PCs pass an Undertaker droid who sizes them up for burial. They reject his offer of funeral arrangements, but the droid suggests they come back when they are needed.

Traveling through town the crew spot two kinds of people, concerned locals who hide from them and thugs who watch them closely.

The Crew head to the Kirmizi Hacienda.

In the centre of the small settlement near a burned out lot that was once perhaps a large communal building and within sight of Otina's Cantina the Crew are hassled by a tall muscular Trandoshan. He is apparently the local marshal. He asks about their business and when they tell him they are delivering goods to the Kirmizi he tells them to be careful and later calls the Kirmizi gutterscum. He shakes down the crew, demanding a non-existent permit for their speeder but lets them go once Lorne give him a steely gaze.

Despite the machismo of the guards Jorus and Aayla spot various defences that protect the Complex including a watch tower, a sensor net and charging points for what might be watchdog or defence droids. Aayla brugrigingly admits they might know what there doing. The Crew and their speeder are admited to the Hacienda where they are asked to go insde and meet with Don Önder.

In the plushily appointed lounge they are greeted by the fresh faced Twi'lek Don Önder, and watched intensely by Koruyucu Kirmiz, Aayla and the Jorus suspect the pair are half brothers.

After confirming they did not open the Cargo Koruyucu has it taken away by muscle. Don Önder has local servants (who look poorly feed and week them selves) serve rich food and drink. Don Önder speaks at length with Val and the crew to get to know them better. Val put up a wall of pleasant half truths that Don Onder likely knows are not the full story but this is not surprising on a first meeting. The Don asks them if they are intrested in working for the Kirmizi in future, which Val says they are amenable to but makes it clear they don't want to "sign up". The Don makes it clear anyone working for him would not be allowed to work for the Panadera. During the back and forth the Crew learn that The Kirmizi family operation is a smuggling ring  and they move whatever needs moving, "drugs, weapons, restricted items in; Glass and highly taxed items out, which for RiftCo is pretty much everything. Some always wants to move something. Someone is always willing to take the risk for those extra credits especially when RiftCo squeezes us all so tightly."  and that Don Önder and his brother built the enterprise up from nothing after the Panadera's killed their parents.

No formal arrangement is reached but after a pleasant enough chat the Crew are allowed to leave unmolested and could likely take on more work from the Kirmizi if they where interested. The Crew leave the Hacienda.

Session 58

Aayla manages to pick up the survival shelter in the Longhorn's cargo bay deftly manoeuvring through the dense field of wreckage to reach it and getting everyone aboard safely.

Dr Mentzer loses the signal from the escape pod in the commotion.

Jorus, Val and Lorne take up positions on the ship.

Aayla manages to bring the jettisoned escape pod onboard as well despite the advancing True Empire ships.

Val takes out a tie fighter with a well-placed volley of blaster fire.

Lorne rushes to cargo bay to find the other inheritors prising open the hatch to the escape pod, through the view port he can see his wife and son, he sets about opening the hatch as well.

Jorus plots a route out of the debris field and away from ties and raider.

Aayla pumps power to engines and once far enough away with a plotted hyperspace route jumps to lightspeed.  Leaving the True Empire far behind.

When Dr Mentzer is returned to Typhon station Seighas Varusful also leaves the ship, likely to do some soul searching. Jorus suggests she might fall into the arms of the Crimson Cadre. Val goes further suggesting a possible secret alliance between the Crimson Cadre and the True Empire but the Crew put this aside for now.

The Longhorn returns to Tann and offers the Inheritors a new start on a world with an Umbrance.

The Crew take an extended break on Tann settling in the Inheritor survivors.

Epilogue Rolls:

Val: Spends Time building bridges between the two communities.

Aayla: Finds a use for the LR3 Probe Droids repurposing their senor packages to provide information on the Planet of Alkuluria

Lorne: Is reunited with his family settling them in Tann where they embrace the new life.

Jorus: Continues to help the people of Tann by holding surgery in the town. He treats some the minor injuries of the newly arrived Inheritors as well as looking after the existing town folk, they are pleased to see their doctor (this is a success on integration added to the project)

Significant Milestone awarded.

Session 57

Val, Jorus and Lorne social out manoeuvre Seighas Varusful. By the end of the exchange she is beaten, afraid of Lorne and has been shaken to her core, perhaps he rigid adherence to the Inheritor combat code has been wrong all along.

In the safety shelter:

  • Jorus treats the 4 year old girl for breathing difficulties caused by smoke inhalation

  • Val hands over box of tools brought with him to Tepo Spiro an Inheritor crafts man who has been keep the air recycler running, he keeps it going but it's still making concerning noises.

  • Val keeps everyone calm and gets a read of the survivors mental state: traumatised.

  • Jorus speaks with Caliliste Chantal, Jorus is keen to spread the word and draw on other Cadre's Caliliste tries to guide him to focus on the immediate problem of saving what is left of his people. She also shares that she thinks the Empire must have got hold of Marauder navigations data from other Cadre's although no Cadre has a complete set of navigational data all know there own hyperspace paths through the rift. The Wind Thorne cadre have also lost contact with other Cadre's and she relays the same concerns about traders and messengers not arriving, now she knows why.

Lorne remembers that before his exile he agreed an escape plan with his wife should any in the Cadre turn against her for being an Exile's wife. Located in the flotilla was part of a ship with a still working escape pod. They might have made it to it. It would have been near where they where last seen. Lorne informs the Longhorn and Dr Mentzer begins searching for the pod.

Unable to get the Longhorn close enough to pick up the survivors  the Crew come up with a plan to use the M27 mining droid to cut a it's way to the survival shelter, cut the shelter free and bring it out of the wreckage. Aayla guides the droid from the Longhorn.

Whilst the droid does it's work Val and Lorne venture out into the airless gravity-less corridors of the flotilla wreck and search for the strange power signals. They locate an Imperial Probe Droid, After a short exchange of blaster fire it explodes in Lorne's face. There is no useful wreckage for Val to sift through, he had hoped he might be able to trace where it was transmitting to.

Dr Mentzer informs Lorne she has found the pod.

The M27 Droid finishes it's heroic job of lifting the survival shelter free of the wreckage out into the dense debris field that surrounds it.

Aayla and Dr Mentzer a disturbed to see an Imperial Raider Corvette arriving from hyperspace. It launces four tie fighters which screech towards the Longhorn. The bigger ship bristles with deadly weapons.

Session 56

The Longhorn ventures deep into the Rift. Aayla Vrei, having combined the hyperspace pods from two droids so the droids can be recovered. The Longhorn navigates the dangers of the Rift, an Ion storm, a dense nebula and a shoal of Khironex. Finally they arrive at the area of space Lorne's vision and the Shard of Kelentar guided him to.

The flotilla is destroyed, a debris field spreads out before them. The find destroyed Jakal fighters, dead Inheritor bodes and floating the floating panel of a tie fighter.

Whilst Jorus scans the debris field to try and work out what happened, Aayla pilots the longhorn deeper into the field.

The crew:

  • locates a fait trace of what could be life signs (heat) shows up on the scanners. This suggests one of the parts of the flotilla, what looks to be chunk of some sort of makeshift space station made of multiple different craft might contain some survivors.

  • Part of space frame has a Jakal fighter still attached to it. The Attack must have been sudden and over helming.

  • What's left of the flotilla has been blasted with concussion missiles, laser and more devastating Turbo laser fire.

  • What's left of the defensive turrets and shield generators on any of the vessels look like the have been precisely targeted by lasers and explosives. Some parts of the station look as if they were targeted as a priority as well. Not all the damage seems to have been inflicted at the same time. Firstly a precise strike was made then afterwards tactics seem to have shifted to a barrage of attacks without any discretion.

  • Lots of scattered erratic power readings that could be something but could also just be batteries or other power systems failing in the wreckage.

Aayla and upset Dr Mentzer stay aboard the Longhorn whilst Lorne, Val and Jorus board the station. The zero-g work is not easy for Val and Jorus but they make it to the remains of the flotilla structure with possible life signs and Jorus, drawing on some old memory smoothly cuts a safe secure entry through the hull plaiting.

Inside the structure the PCs come across the wreckage of the Inheritors civilisation lines the inside of the hulk, destroyed art and sculpture made from shared glass. They pass through a hydroponic cultivation chamber destroyed by fire. They see signs of fighting, and pass a  dead Stormtrooper with blood red markings daubed on his armour floating in the corridor.

As they make their way through the flotilla structure Lorne and Jorus feel they are being watched and Lorne even sees a shape move down a distant corridor. Lorne and Val suggest there is some sort of creature or droid out there in the dark. Val suggests the erratic power readings could be a droid.

They reach an area of corridor utterly ravaged by fire. Inheritor bodes of mixed races, men, women children have burned alive looking for safety and now float in the corridor little more than blackened skeletons. At the end of  the corridor a damaged heavy door is marked with Inheritor markings for safety, Lorne recognises it as a safety shelter.

Jorus fixes the outside access panel and the airlock quickly cycles. Inside the vacsuited crew are created with shard glass spear tips.

An initially tense stand is diffused somewhat by Lorne's powerful presence and instructions to listen to the Elder, as they should.

In the safety shelter are a dozen survivors including  Seighas Varusful, a Maruder Warrior who hates outsiders and who brought Lorne's misconduct to light, resulting in his exhile. Also present is Caliliste Chantal a blind Inheritor Elder who sat in judgement at Lorne's exhile. She recognised Lorne's voice and asks to touch his face to prove that it is him. Lorne asks about his family. A young Duros mother, Avier Cyrille, says that when she was separated from her husband (shortly before he was killed) she saw Lorne's family in the area, they where on that part of the flotilla, they are almost certainly dead or captured.

Caliliste explains that the unthinkable has happened, even the deep Rift is no longer safe, somehow the Empire marshalled a fleet, the attack happened quickly and was decisive. The screech of TIEs brough TIE bombers that disabled or destroyed the larger ships,  a wing of blood red TIEs ripped through their best pilots and defences. dagger like Corvettes with red markings, war ships more heavily armed than anything the Maruder flotilla possessed destroyed defences. Defenders aboard the flotilla were seemingly targeted by concussion missiles and turbolaser fire in precise attacks, they operated without mercy without leniency, if she didn't know better she would say there where deploying her people's own tactics against them. Afterwards came the second wave, freighters and shuttles deployed boarding parties, the Empire didn't rely on blasters, deploying explosives to overcome any resistance and destroying any protection offered by Inheritor shields. They stunned and captured anyone they could, taken back to the freighters, never to be seen again.

Dr Mentzer comms that the stranger power readings are back and seem to be in the same area of debris as Jorus, Lorne and Val.

The atmosphere in the room is tense. Some of the survivors need medical aid and the air recycler is on its last legs.

Session 55

Following Lorne's guidance the Crew locate what Lorne believes is an entrance to the Umbrance. It is not an easy path. After climbing up to a small cave entrance above the lowest turn of the corkscrewing road up the Mesa that the settlement of Torn reach sits on they find a network of narrow and treacherous caves.

The Crew demonstrate the will, stamina and athleticism to make the pilgrimage. Deep within the caves they find a deadly looking trap which Alya manages to disable and later will reset as they retrace their steps, ensuring the Umrbance beyond remains protected. Beyond the find antechamber with many inheritor burials and art, shard glass weapons and crafted goods left with the  piles of bones. Beyond Lorne find a conical Umbrance the floor of the chamber is choked with bones, up to waist high in the centre of the chamber.

Lorne meditates in the space and opening his senses to the place he notices that

  • The walls of the Umbrance are marked with countless markings, at the low levels within your reach there are many markings but they thin and disappear entirely as you look up into the darkness.

  • On the walls 12 tall trapezoid figers are marked, little more than black shadows covered now in markings of reverence from a later time.

  • The Inheritor markings mark the tall figures The Crafter, The Producer, The Scout/The Hunter, The Artist/The Tattoist, The Warrior, The Elder, The Carer, The Navigator or The Pilot, The Storyteller (or perhaps this is the Tattoist, the marking are confused) , The Caretaker of the Dead and lastly the Exhile. (Investigate: These marks are clearly later so it's unclear if these where the original intentions of the first tall dark shapes)

  • The Umbrance looms above you. The tall tapered shapes stretch above you into the darkness. There narrow trapezoid shapes look down on you but where as the Umbrance of Dinoah  might have been concerned parents these feel altogether

  • different. Shocked perhaps, a circle of peers who having discovered something and having gathered to look upon it, they realise something and  step back.. In shock?

  • As you study the figures you can see that they are not solid. Not whole. Although faded it is clear they are not made from one piece but from jagged triangles, as if the figures are  run through with fine cracks. Like broken glass that is broken but has not fallen into fragments, though it must surely do so.

In the centre of the chamber among the piles of bones Lorne wades in to find a strange mask.

Fitted over a skull. A Shardglass mask, ancient. Polished to a mirror shine the Onyx mask covers the top of the face and sides of the head. The mirror surface reflects a Smokey indistinct vision of you. There are no eyes. Anyone wearing it would not be able to see where they where going. The inside of the mask is as polished as the outside. It Is chill to the touch and despite the lack of eyes makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, as if you are being watched. It bears no inheritor markings that you can see.

Putting the mask on he is unable to see or hear much and feels isolated from those around him. The strange mask Is chill to the touch.

Jorus is reminded of Intrepid Angel's story of the strange cabal of Chibiva and reminds Jorus of this.

Jorus identifies the human skull the mask say on as ancient. He also identifies the bones on the bottom of the chamber as older than those on top, and those closes to the pedestal and lowest down to be the oldest of all.

Lorne feels the chill of the Umbrance in his bones and taking the mysterious mask with him leaves the Umbrance with the other

Once they make there way back to the surface the crew emerge from the caves into the night of Torn Reach, shooting stars streaking overhead.

Returning to the longhorn the Crew leave the planet.

Aayla investigate the nav data from the Tempest dust. Finding they have been given a Shard Glass fagment, that has been marked as a form of optical storage, like a very crude verion of the shard of Kelentar she integrates it with the ships Holo projector and LH-O incorporates the data into her Nav data and Aayla takes the ship to hyperspace and deeper into the Rift.

Session 54

Lorne leads the conversation with Valairay The Elder. The conversation is long and convers many topics. Over many hours, supported by his crew mates he talks with the Elder about his deeds and the things he has discovered beyond his Cadre. He also tells the Elder of the guidance he has received from the Bequthers.

Lorne tells  tales that impress the Elder despite his low status as an Exhile and his Colonial companions.

He tells how he recovered Shard Glass weaponry from an enemy of the Inheritors, Of  two different Umbrances, though he does not share the location of the Umbrance near Tann, and of a Lost Inheritor Cadre.

The Elder says that it is a truth that all Inheritors once started elsewhere (that all the races of the inheritors are from somewhere else, not form the Rift). Inheritors are, he says, are inheritors from the Beqhethers, not their decedents, Perhaps in some strange way Lorne has created a Cadre of his own, and made Inheritors of his crew rather than them making him an outsider of him.

Lorne encourages Elder Valairy to make contact with the Lost Cadre. He seems unwilling to move his Cadre so close to space patrolled by RiftCo

Dr Mentzer shares the holo of the Shard of Kelentar and Lorne's vision.

The Elder says he has herd tales of such things as the Shard and that it is disquieting it is in a Colonial museum. He says that a few other Cadre's a rumoured to hold something similar, the Dr finds this news wonderous.

After Lorne shares their intended destination, to reach Lorne's Cadre, The Windthorn cadre, Elder Valairay says there is something he should be aware of; Over a period of many months the Cadre had lost contact with other Cadre's, signal broadcasts, or expected traders or visitors never arrived, from those that have arrived there have been rumours and fear as Cadre messengers and visitors have shared worried words they had too lost contact with other Cadres. There are rumours of attacks by unknown forces on those in once safer places deeper in the rift.

Elder Valairay also shares with Lorne that there is one other who claims to hear the voices of the Beqhethers, the Crimson Spear, at that with the attacks his already seductive message has caused others to join his banner and grow his Cadre. The Reach is lousy with Crimon Cadre raiders. The Crimon Spear, the Elder says that more are returning to the old ways, and that he wants to cover the Rift in blood. Lorne contemplates if he might be some sort of counter? Is that why he is being guided? Both the Elder and Lorne agree that he bears mort though

During the conversation Lorne learns that there is an Umbrance somewhere near torn Reach, likely in a cavern below the town and although he doesn't get the exact location from the Elder (he seems unwilling to share it, preferring it stay hidden from Colonials, revealing it may result in it's tainting or destruction.) he resolves to visit it.

Lorne Meditates with Elder Valairay. During the meditation Elder Valairay hears something he has never heard before, the voices of the Beqheters, he is certain now Lorne is a spiritual figure. Lorne leaves the Elder with a determination for his Cadre to survive, hoping he will make more radical choices to save those he is guiding.

The crew return to the Longhorn. Dr Mentzer is very pleased with having made peaceful contact with a group of Inheritors she goes to her cabin to record everything whilst it is fresh in her mind.

Returning to the ship Lorne, Aayla, Val and Jorus resolve that they won't take Aeon further into the Rift with them. It's too much of a risk. Val suggests he's likely to try and sell any nav data they collect and further endanger the Inheritors they might contact.

Setting the ship to return to Torn Reach the Crew try to stike a deal with Aeon to get him out of there hair but they realise they may need the droids and hyperspace telemetry agragator that has been spliced into the ship. Aeon and the crew come to agreement to clear his debt Ganion Gunrun and pay him an not inconsiderable amount of Credits.

Aayla puts down the Longhorn on the landing area on the mesa near the town. Aeon leaves the ship, there is some concern that he might stir up trouble so Lorne stays on the ship so as not to draw anti Marauder sentiment.

The Crew head into town with two objectives, to get food and perhaps other supplies that they can offer to the Inheritors to build good will. Jorus knows a local trader, Robi Somberlas.

Jorus once repaired Somberlas's leg after he broke it in a speeder accident, in a X22 speeder he owned that was a death trap.  The Crew buy a cargo holds worth of food from Robi and his old speeder so that they can use to explore the local area looking for the Umbrance.

Back at the Longhorn Robi's droids load the cargo onto the longhorn and Aayla fixes up the speeder, fixing the flaws that made it a death-trap and fitting two extra makeshift seats.

Session 53

Heading to one of the scavenging locations in the Nebula near sunder point the Crew find a heavily damaged cornelian light freighter without working engines and with holes cut by Jakal borders.

Boarding the ship Aayla is able to get access to the computer core and recover sensor readings from when the ships was attacked. She picks up signals that show small craft attacking the ship. It's engines being disabled and then a large ship arrived and seemingly docked with the freighter, for an hour or so, likely taking on cargo. From there, the larger ship undocks, the smaller Jakals dock with it and the larger ship heads away from the freighter.

Aeon expresses reservations about dealing with Marauder's calling them thieves and murderers. This does not ender him to the crew.

Following the vector of the larger ship the Longhorn arrives at the edge of a sprawling Shatter Glass Field. Jorus spots sensor readings that might be Inheritor ships. Lorne sends out a wide band message explaining that  he is an exhile and has important news for his people.

The message is responded to by Sevis of the Tempest Dust Cadre, a small Cadre that once flourished in The Reach.

Lorne and Sevis talk. It is established the Lorne has met members of the Tempest Dust Cadre at an celebration event when several cadre's came together.

Sevis goes radio silent saying he will need to pass on Lorne's message to the elder. During the break in communication the Crew spot small sensor signals that are most likely Jakal fighters. The crew let them do there thing not wanting to raise tensions.

Six Inheritor warriors board the Longhorn via the cargo bay (the crew conceal there own Jakal fighter before they arrive) Aeon remains dismissive of the Inheritors intensions but is put down by Lorne.

Sevis listens to what Lorne has to say, when he says he has made contact with a lost Inheritor tribe and rediscovered two cumbrances he takes him seriously and despite his reservations agrees to take him to the Elder, they agree that it is an unorthodox time. Jorus notices the warriors are malnourished and gives them some supplements from the ships medical supplies.

The Lonhorn follow the Jakal fighter to a small Marauder Flotilla hiding in the Shatter Glass field. One bulk freighter 120 meters in length, old and heavily patched.

One space frame with another dozen Jakals and a space frame with a cargo pod which must be for Sevis's warriors. The freighter also has hooks for Jakals so it can act as a mother ship of sorts.

Aayla docks the longhorn.

Before leaving the ship Aayla gives LH-0 instructions to ignore and request from Aeon.

Jorus, Lorne, Aayla, Val and Dr Mentzer

Aboard ship it is cramped, heavily patched and equipment is not in a good condition. The crew see families, children, warriors civilians eking out an existence, the cargo pods have been turned into living quarters, there is no privacy and it is moist and the air filters smell off.

The Crew and Dr Mentzer are taken to a room near the front of the central body of the freighter where the floor ceiling and walls are covered in the swirling marks of the history of the Tempest Dust Cadre, An elderly gentleman sits cross legged on the floor a heater lamp in front of him he gestures for the other to sit including Sevis. The door is closed. The crew spot warriors out side the door.

Session 52

The Longhorn returns to Sunder Point.

Whilst Jorus and Lorne protect the ship for opportunistic Jawas Val and Aayla negotiate with the Jawas for a any parts of Marauder space frame's they might have recovered. The Jawas try to sell them some scrap but they don't buy it. Eventually after Val and Aayla explain at length what they want the lead Jawa gets an scrappy looking Astromech to project a holomap of the system. Marked on it a points where the Jawas have scavenged parts which showed signs of Marauder attacks e.g. Hull's with plasma torch cuts, parts of Jakal Fighter,  low power carbon scoring from Jakal Weapons etc. After some tense negotiations with Val the Jawas agree to part with the information for a tidy sum of credits.

Combining the data with the information from Brakk the crew decide to check out overlapping information in a asteroid field between Torn Reach and the main hyperspace route out of the system.

Heading into the asteroid field, hazardous but for Aaylas's legendary piloting skills Jorus picks up so low power readings on the sensors that could be Maruder vessels. Aayla conceals the Longhorn in the field and the crew set up one of Aeon's droids to act as a comms relay. They send the droid out with a recorded message from Lorne explaining he wants to make contact with his Cadre and asking them to respond on a specific frequency that the droid will then relay to the longhon. The Longhorn does receive a response but it seems like a trap, asking them to reveal their position, Lorne deduces the Maruders are Crimson Cadre and the Longhorn breaks cover and tries to make it's escape. As the marauder Jakal fighters flit through the asteroid after them Aayla manages to keep the Longhorn ahead with support from the rest of the crew and is able to break out into open space and loose their pursuers. During the escape, at Aeon's suggestion Aeon and Dr Mentzer lock them selves in their cabins.

Session 51

The Crew venture into Torn Reach and head to Mirax Shyshy's Cantina. Lorne dons a disguise that does nothing more than draw attention to his Inheritor status.

The PCs track down Brakk who is playing Sabac with a couple of other locals including a Sullustan.

Brakk clearly doesn't like Aeon and needles him about him losing his ship.

Brakk offers to provide the information the Crew want in exchange for them getting a Trivalve assembly for his ship. He suggests they get it from Sunder point a space scrap yard in the system.

A mob is starting to gather at the Cantina and Lorne and Val sneak out of the back and head back to the ship.

Meanwhile Jorus is accosted by a male Askajanian who is desperate for the doctors help. Going back to the Askajanian's house Jorus finds that his wife is about to give birth and Aayla and Dr Mentzer help Jorus to deliver the litter of six cubs. Afterwards, heading back to the ship they avoid the growing mob,

Sunder point is run by Space Jawa's whilst Val and Alya try to make a deal for a decent Trivalve assembly Lorne and Jorus have to repeatedly scare off troublesome Jawa's trying to snag things from the longhorn.

During the visit the Crew notice the Jawas have parts of jakal fighters and some of the scrap bears plasma touch cuts synonymous with Marauder attacks.

Aayla and Val secure a decent trivalve assembly for the correct ship and the Longhorn leaves sunder point.

Back at Torn reach the crew trade the trivalve assembly for Brakks info on Marauder attacks. During the exchange Brakk surreptitiously draws a circle in the soot on the trivalve assembly which his noticed by Lorne. The Crew think he may be making the sign of the Vorban rings.

The PCs leave Torn reach and discuss what to do next.

Session 50

Aalya takes a dislike to Aeon's approach to droids in his work. Val talks to Aeon and realises he is a bit sore about not having his own ship. When he's asked about it he says he lost his ship to a pirate attack. Val's sure he is being less that truthful.

After agreeing to take the job Che'riss, Dr Mentzer and Aeon leave the Crew alone with Ganio who has a quiet word. Just after Che'riss has left he says "he's not fooling anyone with they crazy accent you know"  he says shaking his head", Val as Wes asks why he thinks Che'riss a he? Ganio asks if has info to share, Val says maybe later but leaves it at that. Ganio talks to the Crew about the attack in the safe channel out of Typhon, he says that if they didn't deal with them permentaly (they didn't) they'll want to watch their back as the people they stole the Yachut from don't seem none to happy. Val picks up on queues that Ganio knows more and convinces him to share. He says that  who ever is paying their cheques has deep pockets and has hired someone very competent. No one really saw anything. They didn't leavy any tracks and they didn't interact with any of his people that he knows off, stealthy and clean. A Pro job. They don't even seem to have docked on the station, It doesn't even seem like the ship docked in docking bay. Ganio then mentions that he has also heard that RiftCo put out a 20,000 credit bounty for some rich kid Clawdite from Chibavaa. And it seems to him that the only place you'd pick up a  fancy YV-261 model is in the outer systems and money like that is bound to stir up some interest from the kind of hunters who are looking to make a name for themselves,  maybe not the pros, but those with something to prove, the Enthusiastic types he says that if he had a Clawdite on his crew he would definitely want to watch his back on a place like Typhon. It is after all a dirt pile of scum. Just some friendly advice. Although Ganio doesn't know Val is a clawdite Val's calm demeanour slips a little as Ganio talks about matters a little close to home. Likely raising suspicions that the RiftCo Bounty and the Longhorn do seem to be linked as he suspected.

After leaving Ganio the Crew meet with Che'riss who shares that she has received a short call from Colonel Novastar the message is played back:  "I have need of your services doctor, and I am contacting you to ensure you have held up your end of the bargain…" there is a pause,  "- I see you have not.  ...Those who act in my interest prosper, those who act against them. Do not. I wish you the best of luck surviving the consequences of your choices" - The Colonel waring an unconvincing mask of calmness ends the holo-transmission. Val can tell that despite her outward brusque demeanour she is furious. Che'riss also talks to the Crew about "Good Business" which she sems to mean the protection of the Ugnauts from the True Empire. She says that many people are talking about the victory and it is good business to help the little guy. She suggests that if the Crew want to do more good business, presumably standing up to the Empire? They should contact her when they get back from their current job for Ganio.

After getting some free Drinks from Che'riss the Crew decide the most pressing matter is to get under way. They head to the Landing bay and meet Aeon and Dr Mentzer. They load Aeon's droids and tech onto the Longhorn. Dr Mentzer meets Tsubatchcark who takes a liking to her pack. Dr Aria travels light.

The Longhorn heads to Torn Reach to meet a contact of Aeon. During the journey Lorne talks with Dr Mentzer who wants to know how to approach contact with the Maruder Flotilla she hope to find. Lorne recommends surrendering immediately. He also tells her that his wife and son are there. Dr Metzer talks to Lorne for a long time, noting down what he says in her datapad. Lorne seems content to share with someone genuinely interested in his culture, but who can say.

Aeon says that a device used to collate the telemetry for the probe droids needs to be spliced into the ships systems. Aayla doesn't trust him and watches over his work. Aeon does an average job, he offers an excuse about the longhorn system being newer and seems content with the just good enough job. After Aeon leaves Aayla connects up the system in the cargo bar in a fantastic way, it will now work much better. Aeon also says that he needs a console up in the cockpit where he can collate the hyperspace telemetry data from the droids and then pass the new jump vector to the pilot. The Crew, despite his brusque attitude agree.

At Torn reach Aeon reveals that his contact is Braakk Harrad a Klatoonian Brush pilot who does odd jobs around Torn Reach, he's know to Jorus but he only knows he's a pilot and that he drinks at Mirax Shyshy's place. As the Longhorn lands Aeon spots Braak's ship confirming he is in town. Asked if they can trust his contact, Brakk, Aeon says  he "find it's healthy not to completely trust anybody" which Val says is a very cynical way to look a the Galaxy, Aeon says he'll learn that lesson eventually. Aeon says that a constant threat of Maruder attacks hangs over Torn Reach, confirmed by Jorus, which means Lorne certainly won't be welcome, but he's pretty scarry so he might help to get his contact to talk.

Session 49

After a dramatic vertical chase to the edge of space the Preponderant Opal makes the jump to light speed and safety.

Dr Harik and Dr Vulen set about freeing the rescued captives from their carbonite slabs. The manage to successfully free the 12 victims with no ill effects from Carbonite

Amoungst the freed captives the find:

  • Isabeau Landor a obsequious Pantoran

  • Nalia'Elesta  an athletic Twi'lek who has been marked with nonsensical Marauder tattoos and had her teeth filled to present as a Marauder to Kazimir.

  • Katerlin Gerusco, later identified as Intrepid Angel of New Republic intelligence.

  • Sarria Kelrune an aspiring  Theelin musician

  • Trinna Kazimir-Caalagene, Herve's young bride from the board seat holding Pacaunt-Surin family. Val knows she is supposed to have died in a tragic shuttle accident having run away with a young lover, bringing scandal to the Pacaunt-Surin family.

Val spends some time  talking to Trinna who ends up supporting the other victims and ends up leading a kind of therapy circle whilst the ship is underway.

The Crew learn more about Intrepid Angel who prior to her capture had found tantalising leads that suggested that a cabal of senior figures with ties to RiftCo where conspiring together, possibly to seize control of the company from CEO Grajay Shellav.  Though she had not yet uncovered Information about the names of the conspiracy members she did manage to acquire a dead drop encrypted messages and in doing so she was able to uncover a secret meeting of the Cabal in Chibavaa City. Concerned that an Imperial remnant might be manipulating the conspiracy she attempted to sneak into the meeting place. She was caught and captured. She described the meeting place as cold and a cave below ground. Once captured , she was tortured and her allegiance to the New Republic identified. During her interrogation she was drugged and held in a darkened room. Along with the interrogation droid strange figures in robes questioned her. They wore opaque masks of onyx shard glass. After her interrogation she remembers brief flashes of being transferred, possibly in a private shuttle what must have been the Kazimir estate.  She remembers being strapped to the carbonite freezing device. The next thing she remembers is being woken up. When told about the Vorban Rings her theory is that she's been handed off to this Kazimir to hide her, the conspiracy obviously wanted her out of the way but didn't want the mess of disposing of a new republic agent. Lastly she relates that at the meeting They gathered to hear the words of a strange sentient not of any race she had seen before, a tall thin figure who towered over the rest, perhaps 7-8ft tall clad in black robes with a red cloak. It was not well lit in the meeting place but even from her restricted vantage point she thinks it had a kind of a blank face and textured skin with black eyes of intense intelligence and darkness. It didn't really speak expect in a low hissing song that was translated by a vocabulator. But it's presence was unmistakable like a nail in the back of your mind. They called it  the "Primogeniture".

The Crew speculate on what this means, if the meeting place is an Umbrance on Chibavaa, its is even suggested the tall figure might be the Crimson Spear but Lorne is unable to make this make sense and later side-lines the idea. Jorus suggests the tall alien might be an actual Bequether, or at least someone or something pretending to be one. There is some suggestion that it might be another faction worshiping the Bequthers in another way.

Epilogue Rolls:

Val & Aayla: Refit the Preponderant Opal to work as a cargo and defence ship for the settlement. Aayla trains a couple of the locals as pilots

Lorne: Is dropped off in Dinoah and makes his way deep into the Jungle to return the Shard Glass weapons from Kazimir's estate to people who can put them to better use. Usana Banchar is glad to see him and the two spar. Lorne and Usana place the ossuary recovered from Kazimir's estate in the umbrance there.

Jorus: Helps Dr Harik set up a clinic with the medical supplies from Kazimir's estate at Tann, brining a local doctor to the settlement for the first time.

Significant Milestone awarded.

The PCs arrive at Typhon station to meet with Ganion Gunrun, they make contact with Che'riss G'isk and Intrepid Angel and her seem to get along after an exchange of odd phrases. One might almost think Che'riss knows more than they are letting on. Che'riss will see to it that Intrepid Angel gets safely off the station. They also meet with the Crew of Lavish Rouncy as Jared is happy to take Trinna Kazimir-Caalagene back to Chibavaa for a nice fat reward.

The PCs meeting with Ganio Gunrun, Che'riss G'isk, Dr Aria Mentzer and Aeon Dymax who explain that Lorne's strange star map vision lines up with mysterious Inheritor artifact called the Shard of Kelentar. Dr Aria Mentzer believes with the crews help she can follow the map to make peaceful contact with the Inheritor peoples.

Session 48

Deep within the estate the Crew of the Longhorn, Corr and Sharj find the vault

Obsidian coloured high density quandrium alloy door with geometric design carved into it.

Press like table with tubes and pipes that is the Carbonite freezing apparatus which link to the pressurised carbonite stored in tanks above the room.

Aayla asses the code cylinder lock on the vault door, with some insight from Jorus who once had to treat a compromised shady character who was locked in his own dungeon they figure it needs two code cylinder to be used in the correct sequence. There may also be counter measures in the lock that would set of poison gas in the ante chamber.

Lorne waits outside.

Val comms the security guards and tells them to route all communication to the ante chamber should any comms com in,

Later comms come in and Val is threated by a very confused Hervé Kazimir-Kalagene who is talking to himself. Concerned that Hervé's next step would be to contact someone on Chibavaa to come to the estate he puts the guards on alert telling them to defend the landing pad and that the attackers may desiquise themselves as law enforcement. All 12 remaning estate security are deployed and a tripod blaster is deployed to cover the smaller landing bay, the large hanger is locked down and lastly Val learns there is concealed concussion missle turret on the islet the building is attached too.

Jorus and Aalya and Corr work on the Vault Door, Sharj, Lorne and Val go to Hervé;s private quarters, a whole floor of the dome near it's upper levels with a transparent roof doom and panoramic views. It is adorned with gaunche statues and art. Searching the room they find displays of martial weapons including a force pike, a locked cabinet with ornate blasters including long barrelled rifles and an ornately decorated   Nubian ELG-3A Royal. In an area of the chamber with a massive ornate wooden desk made of the polished latitudinal cut segment of some kind of tree and with gold seats on either side Val and Lorne and Sharj find a shinny silver metallic statute of a naked Twi'lek dancer in an implausible position. Touching various points of the statue causes a warm prickling sensation in the finger that touches the statue. Lorne finds a small seem that suggest an opening on the base of the 2ft statue. Unsure what to do with it they take it back to the vault.

There is a call form Riftco security which Val answers, it is a Riftco patrol on route to the estate. Val plays the part of Hervé and sends them to talk to someone he name drops from high in RiftCo security.

Sharj works out the mystery of the strange statue from Kazimir's private quarters, the Twi'lek must be touched in certain places in a certain order in line with Heré's favourtie massage, which Sharj happens to know. In the pedestal of the statue are two code cylinders, a spare set it seems.

Aayla with Jorus's help and the code cylinders opens the vault door, the 4m black quandraium door rising towards the system silently bar a hiss from the pressure sealed room.

Inside the circular vault 12 carbonite frozen forms are suspended in replusor fields hanging in the air in an eerie circle. All are beautiful women. Lorne recognises one as a Marauder from their tatoos. Non look like they where frozen willingly.

There is another inbound comm from RiftCo this time it is Lord Commander Reymont Anterá, he knows Val is a fraud, it is clear that he is also a member of the Vorabn Rings. Anterá advises Val that he "should have picked his enemies more carefully" and disconnects the call.

Jorus reflects that they longer Kazimir's victims have been frozen the more likely they are to be affected by complications from hibernation sickness

The crew quickly push the carbonite frozen victims back to the longhorn once aboard Val orders the hanger open and Aalya takes the Preponderant opal out with Val in the co-pilots seat. They lament their missing overcharged engines.

As the Preponderant opal leaves the estate a RiftCo Excise cruiser closes on its position; Can the Opal get away?

Session 47

The Crew of the Longhorn defeats the Preponderant Opal and it's escort fighters in a dog fight through the Clouds of Zan'tor. The two EX-12 fighters are destroyed and the Preponderant Opal's engines are badly damaged and Catch fire. A small parasitic shuttle flees the Opal as it loses altitude, presumably Hervé Kazimir-Caalagene (and later they will learn likely also his head of security) are aboard and they flee to the planet below.

The Preponderant Opal's engines are badly damaged and the ship is slowly losing altitude the pilot is clearly struggling to keep it stable. Taking the initiative the Crew decide to board the ship and take it for themselves so they can use it to free the people Kazimir keeps stored in, frozen, in his Vault. Corr Harik, having been told why they want they ship enthusiastically goes along as he may know some of the security on the ship and can might be able to help talk them down. Val, Lorne, Aayla and Dr Harik board the Preponderant Opal leaving Jorus on the Longhorn and LH-0 flying the ship. Jorus stabilises the Preponderant Opal with the Longhorn's tractor beam. The boarding party bust open open a hatch on the outside of the ship, and make there way into a lavish lounge, there entry is not stealthy and they come face to face with a dozen members of Kazimir's security. Val talks them down, explaining that they are there to stabalise the ship, if they don't let them the ship will crash and they will all die. The security stand down. The Longhorn crew set about fixing the engines and put out the fire. Porro, The Opal's male Twi'lek pilot gives the code cylinders for the ships operation to Aayla and provides a brief rundown of the ships systems. The Crew drop the estate security and the pilot on the surface of Zan'tor with light, food and water so they can get to Zan'tor city. Myn and Gil the two indentured servants aboard are set free and get to go with the Longhorn Crew, Gil the ships bartender is fixed a drink by Val as they take a moment to reflect on their dramatic antics over the last few hours with a good drink in the Preponderant Opal's luxurious bar.

The Longhorn and the Opal fly to the Dinoahan system and hide the Longhorn in deep space. The crew boards the Opal and heads to Chibavaa. The Opal enters Chibavaa and is not harassed by Riftco security. Val, supported by some research by Jorus in digging up some holos of Kazimir, Val uses the resources to put on a convincing impression of Kazimir. Aayla follows the automated docking cycle and lands the Opal in the Estates hanger. Lorne, Jorus and Aayla put on Estate security uniforms and escourting Sharj and Dr Harik as if they are prisoners enter the estate. They are greeted by a security guard that Val questions learning there are six other guards on duty and the shift change is due to happen in three hours. Dr Harik shares that the vault with the carbonite trophies in it is almost impossible to access without Kazimir's codes. The crew are unconcerned. He also confirms that the carbonite freezing equipment is in an antechamber before the vault that Corr has only accessed once, when he froze Sharj. Disguised the crew walk deeper in the estate.

Session 46

As the crew decide what to do next Val overshears Sharj tell Corr that she won't go back. It sounds very final to Val.

Deciding that they have no intention of leaving Kass Harrick with the medicines his brother liberated from Hervé Kasimir-Caalagene Aayla takes the Longhorn back to Kass's club. Whilst Aayla holds the longhorn in position Jorus uses the tractor beam to pull the roof off of the three story building with deft skill, The roof is lifted in one chuck ripped free from the ferrocrete. Using a rigged cable installed by Aayla earlier Lorne jumps out the cargo hold into the hole created by the tractor beam, before he jumps he also shoves out two of the repulsor sleds Corr brought with him, Aayla has also rigged these to give a burst of height from their repulsors before they burn out, so they can get back to the ship. Just before he jumps Corr and Sharj have made there way to the cargo bay and are about to talk to Lorne only to have him lower the  ramp and jump out in front of them.

With the top floor of the club exposed (a storage space on the third floor) Lorne lands right next to the stored medical supply crates, there is a very surprised inventory droid who raises it's arms and exclaims surprise in a posh voice. With the roof ripped off Lorne also spots a Gamorrean, one of Kass's men who has been caught short in the now roofless refresher. Lorne shots the door panel to seal the door but the Gamorrean begins to clumsily climb out. Lorne hears people running up the stair well and also spots a cargo lift. That leads to the lower levels. He begins loading the first sled. The first of Kass's men to arrive is

Rask Zhoegh the Beefy Gran Enforcer, Jorus tries to intimidate him with the ships PA but he doesn't seem to hear it or if he does he ignore it. Rask rushes over to stop Lorne but Lorne trips him up sending him sprawling on the floor. Lorne finishes loading the first sled, activates the overloaded sled which shoots up into the air. Ready and waiting Aayla reverses the Longhorn deftly to catch the sled in the cargo bay. Val who has made his was to the cargo bay ramp and is providing covering fire steps aside, his cloak billowing in the updraft from the ship as the sled slams into the cargo bay floor and skids to the back of the bay. Corr and Sharj also get out of the way.

The Gamorrean climbs out of the refresher and the Lorne can hear others rushing up the stairs to the roofless store room. Concerned he will be overwhelmed he encourages Val to join him and load the second sled. Corr volunteers to take Val's place at the cargo bay door and Val throws him his blaster and then jumps out of the longhorn an another rigged cable. Deciding that he won't be much use with the physical labour he intimidate the Gamorrean into loading the crates instead. As other muscle begins arrives at the top of the stairs Jorus uses subtle adjustments to the tractor beam to position the roof in front of the stairway exit blocking anyone else from getting to Lorne. Kass's men begin to push through but Lorne and Val have loaded the last sled and trigger it, it springs into the air with them gripping on tight, as the sled reaches the zenith of it's trajectory Aayla once again manoeuvrers the Longhorn back to catch it in the cargo bay, the sled slides in and the two crew men, suspended by the cables step onto the deck. The Cargo bay is closed and Jorus adroitly places the roof back where it came from, it sags in the middle but is otherwise back where it should be. Aayla puts the longhorn in to a climb and heads for space.

Lorne asks Cass what he wanted to discuss. Cass and Sharj are pretty much speechless from the crews daring escapades but once they get a grip and they begin to tell Val and Lorne that they thank them for what they've done for them but that they will part ways with the crew rather than put them in more danger. Lorne and Val ask them how they hope to survive but they don't really have an answer, as they four of them make their way to the mess and the nearby cockpit, The conversation is interrupted by blaster fire rippling off the shields.

As the Longhorn passes through the thick mustard coloured cloud layer above Zan'tor city the cockpit streaked with polluted rain Aayla and jorus see two fighters that look like knock-off tie fighters speed past the long horn from behind, they start turning for another pass. On the holo the Longhorn receives a transmission from Hervé Kazimir-Caalagene, he demands the return of his property, he's not interested in Corr and Sharj's 'accomplices' but he demands Corr and Sharj. Aayla, not prepared to negotiate begins manoeuvring for battle. Aayla asks Hervé which fighter he is on. Corr says he won't be on either, he has a private yacht and as he does so The Preponderant Opal emerges from the clouds directly in front of the Longhorn and opens fire. The Longhorn's shields go down to a burst of ion cannon fire. Aayla begins throwing wild manoeuvres to avoid the danger and Jorus manages to get some power back to the shields. Lorne rushes to the Ion cannon turret. Val heats up the forward blaster cannons and forces The Preponderant Opal to take evasive action.

Session 45

Corr and Sharj' are given quarters and retire to rekindle their love. The crew spend some time discussing plans but ultimately decide to head to Zan'tor.

The Longhorn arrives at Zan'tor City, Looking at the state of the space port and Aayla puts the ship down at a private landing site, little more than a vacant lot. Stannor Renda who runs the dock promises to look after the ship after Val makes a good impression. He has a Weequey guard the ship he also  gives them some tips on the local weather (acid rain, wear a poncho) and the local wildlife, Zan'tor Vultures, opportunist carnivorous predetors that prey on people in the dark. Val buys 5 rebreathers and  5 rubber ponchos from a street vender. Corr must go without. They also notice a musty yellow dust that gets on their clothes and skin.

The crew go with Corr and Sharj to his brothers Working Men's Club in side the see an octagonal fighting ring with a punch up going on keeping the clientele entertained. Val gets a meeting with Corr's brother Kass. Val picks up on some tension from Kass towards Corr but Corr seems oblivious. Kass ask's Core to get the medicine and meet them at a location. He agrees to send one his men a beefy Gran enforcer called Rask Zhoegh in a speeder truck. The crew go with Rask, load up the truck and he drives them and the medical supplies to the meeting place, a loading dock in an abandoned part of the city with no lights.

At the loading dock a tense exchange between Kass and Corr follows. Kass is revealed to be a member of the Vorban rings with no intention of helping his brother. He reveals to Val that he has sold them out to the Rings, the crew having stolen from another Ring member. Corr is distraught his escape plan in tatters. Kass offers to let Corr and Sharj go unharmed and the crew can leave as well. Lorne intimidates Kass, at least a little and he takes a create of the medical supplies with him. Korr gives Lorne him a smirking smile and an insincere salute as the Crew leave heading out in to the dark part of the city.

Protected by Aayla's light form her tool kit from the Zan'tor Vultures The Crew wait in another storage building nearby to await the arrival of L0-H and the Longhorn. In the mean time they see the Speeder van leave presumably with Kass's men and the medicines. It takes the ship longer than the crew would iike to track down Aayla's makeshift beckon-caller and land safely. Lorne put his single crate on board. Whilst they wait Sharj cheers up Corr by encouraging him to live in the moment and to enjoy the time they can spend together now. She is happy to just be free and be with him.

Session 44

Pushing the repulsor sleds stacked with medical supply crates, Val, Jorus and Corr return with haste to Aayla. On the way Corr nearly runs over a domed cleaning droid with his sled.

Meanwhile back at the "Marauder cultural display" Aayla deftly disables the security with the right tools from her belt and a little birghtgum to connect the contacts. She takes down the security sensors on the whole exhibit. When Corr and the rest of the crew arrive the Longhorn crew quickly stack the Inheritor artifacts on the crates and then move as fast as they can to the landing pad. They make it, with it only a few minutes to midnight, Corr's deadline for them to leave.

Choosing to keep a low profile Aayla pilots the Longhorn out the same way as they came in, through the winding flight path between the islands and out of private air space. Then she begins to climb to orbit careful not to do anything that might attract undue attention.

The medical cargo is secured in the hold, Jorus and Val note that Corr checks the cargo on his sled again, the one with the largest crate. The repulsor sleds are deactivated. The Shardglass weapons are placed the smuggling compartment in the hold and Lorne takes the Ossuary to his  quarters.

As they break Orbit the Longhorn is contacted by the same RiftCo Custom & Excise Patrol cruiser as earlier, complaining they still don't have the right permits and they are not on the way to a RiftCo facility. Val buys Aayla with a back and forth with the RiftCo pilot. Lorne sees the cruiser closing on them fast, with it's little cloud of Droid fighters deployed from his view in the Ion turret. Aayla flies casua and the Longhorn is able to reach it's jump point before it is intercepted. The Longhorn gets away clean. Much to the relief of a nervous Corr.

The crew become more suspicious of Corr, whilst Val distracts Corr in the mess with his social skills Aayla and Jorus head to the cargo hold. Talking to Corr Val learns that:

  • Getting the medicines  to Zan'tor is very important to Corr. His family comes from Zan'tor and the medicines could really help them and the people on Zan'tor. Although Val thinks this is true he also picks up that Val may have another motivation that he is not sharing.

  • Corr was educated on Buallaba and then went on to studied out of sector at the Bellorin Medical Academy on a scholarship, but his is originally from Zan'tor.

  • Val suspects Corr's posh accent is likely a learned affectation to cover his poor origins.

Aayla and Jorus beginning removing the crates from the sled with the largest crate on it. When they reach the large crate they open it only to find a carbonite block with the closed eyed figure of a Twi'lek embeded in it. She lays flat her arms down by her side. From her body language Jorus observes that he actually looks pretty serene for someone frozen in Carbonite and his concludes that perhaps Corr drugged her before freezing her.

Aayla, unimpressed with this surprise cargo stars the dethawing process.

The noise in the cargo bay is heard in the Mess and Corr comes to investigate, Val goes after him and they both pass Lorne's quarters where he has been studying the Ossury. Lorne follows them to find out what is going on.

In the hold Corr sees the thawing carbonite and grabs a blaster pistol from another crate. Lorne smacks it out of his hand and puts him into a hold.

The Twilek comes round, there is commotion as Aayla and the others demand answers.

Corr begs to treat the Twi'lek and make sure she is ok. Jorus is confident his administrations is genuine. Corr explains that the Twi'lek is an indentured servant belonging to his former employer. The Crew ease of a bit and after the Twi'lek hugs Corr and it becomes clear the two are clearly friendly with each other the crew and their passengers all make their way to the mess. Where Corr tells them everything:

  • The Twi'lek's name is Sharj Hatti.

  • Sharj is an indentured servant. - essentially a slave collected by Hervé kazimir-Caalagene (Corr's employer) for her dancing skills, she is his unwilling entertainer and play thing.

  • Corr and Sharj confess they are in love

  • Corr and Sharj know that Kasimir plays both sides of the law; As well as his RiftCo connections he also works with a criminal group,

  • Corr knows there secret greeting, a circle with an Aurubesh V. He tried this when he met the PCs.

  • Jorus recognises this as the greeting of a mysterious criminal group know as the Vorban Rings.

  • Corr has put together this plan over the last six months. Their Plan is to get to Zan'tor City. Corr has contacted his younger brother there. They will go to see his aged mother and introduce his new bride.

  • When he was formulating the plan to get Sharj out he contacted his brother for help.

  • Corr hasn't seen his brother or his mother since he won a scholarship for offworld education aged 10. He continued to win scholarships and he never went back, until now. He only reached out to his brother recently as he had no where else to turn.

  • He understands his brother has made something of him self and runs a local business on Zan'tor.

  • His brother has managed to get them forged passes to leave the shattered rift.

  • The Medicines are to be exchanged for the Forgeries, Corr's brother has told him he has arranged for them to go to those in need in return a contact of his brother's a retired forger he knows is marking the passes.

  • One they have passes, one for Corr and one for cargo (for a frozen Sharj. That's now useless though as she is unfrozen and Corr and Sharj don't think they can get Sharj through Terminus jump point as a passanger, she'll be arrested and returned to Hervé kazimir-Caalagene .

  • They had planned to return to Buallaba and get a civillian transport under the false documents and leave the Rift. This plan is now in jeperdy as Sharj is unfrozen.

  • Corr also tells them that Hervé kazimir-Caalagene has had many playthings, that was Corr's job to keep them and Hervé kazimir-Caalagene healthy, that's why there was all the medical equipment.

  • Corr tells the crew there In a secret area of the mansion there is circular room where a dozen other playthings that Hervé kazimir-Caalagene has got bored of have been frozen in carbonite and hung on display he didn't want Sharj to suffer the same fate to become some old mans sick art display for all time.

The Crew, much to the relief of the couple agree to help them.

Val, Jorus, Aayla and Lorne discuss a desire to return to the mansion and rescue the frozen prisoners. Lorne stats clearly his desire to kill this Hervé kazimir-Caalagene.

Session 43

Jorus agrees to a mercy mission for Dr Corr Harrik, a young doctor who has expensive medicines he wants to urgently get to Zan'tor. During the meeting he draws a circle of beer on the table waiting to see how Jorus reacts. Jorus thinks it a little odd but doesn't  think much of it. Jorus agrees to the mission and Corr gives him a code cylinder with landing codes and precises co-ordinates and a time to be at that location. He goes and tells the others.

Whist Aayla does her best to lay a good cover for the ship (tweaking the transponder, dampening any unwanted signals etc) for when they head into Chibavaa space, he is encouraged by Val who doesn't actually do any work him self but is very supportive. Lorne practices with his spear, having given his shield away in a noble gesture.

Captain Heb We'ze comes to inspect the ship with his S8 Series Security droids. He is shown around by Val. The Crew are fined for not having a valid licence for the mining M27 mining droids but Val does a good job distracting the RiftCo security captain from any thing mor damaging.

The crew head to Chibava in time to make the appointed rendezvous. Lorne gets to see the home of his enemy for the first time, it is not the horrid cesspit he expected. The see several type four container transports shipping goods out of Rift along with myriad other commercial and civilian traffic. The see the vast orbital space stantion Terminus Jumpoint. Lorne openly contemplates the idea of destroying it and freeing the rift.

On approach to the surface Of Chibavaa the crew are contacted by a RiftCo Custom & Excise Patrol cruiser and after a back on forth with Val the ship, under the GX-1 transponder if fined for lacking several necessary permits. Sharing the landing Codes given by Corr also helps get them past as they are apparently on the way to see a VIP. The Longhorn goes on it's way but there are now outstanding fines on the GX-1 transponder. The are advised not to approach Chibavaa during the celebrations, Val asks what Celebrations and is told it is Carnival Week, he had completely overlooked that having been away from home for so long.

The Longhorn continues to the landing co-ordinates and is pinged for entering private air space. After transmitting the codes given by Corr they follow a narrow permitted approach route to an island where a golden sandy beach backed by palm trees meet a tranquil ocean. High on a rocky cape an exceptional circular building lit with tasteful night lights, dramatically juts out over the sea. Aayla manoeuvres the Longhorn over the luxurious building to a circular landing pad on the other side of the cape which clings to the rock face at perpendicular angle. She notices a second smaller pad perhaps for an airspeeder or shuttle is set a little further along the cliff. It is currently empty.  The lights on the building and landing pad a are dim. The crew leave the ship and begin to wonder if they are in the wrong place. At 11:30 local time an entrance door opens in the cliff face near the main hanger door (that remains closed), Corr comes out and meets the Crew. He asks them to follow him and leads them deep in to the opulent building.

The inside of the building clearly set out over several floors is on a radial pattern with circular corridors joining the spokes together, the layout of the building is not regular not all corridors intersect and where larger rooms or open spaces are located you can not always take the most direct route. The most striking corridors are the ones on the outer edge of the building that offer majestic views of the starlit beaches, dramatic islets and the rolling waves far below. Expensive sculptures and art in all sizes addorns both. The collector appears to appreciate both tasteful struggle and the naked form of many races. Though humans and near-humans seem most popular, Twi'leks seem to be a particular fancy.

Val asks who owns the building and Corr explains that

  • It is his place of work. Corr has decided that I need a new challenge. These medicines and equipment will be coming with me, as they belong to him. Now that he is relocating.

  • He says his boss, one Hervé Kazimir-Caalagene is currently away (at the Carnival Week parties in Chibivaa City). Most of the security are either with him or have been given the night off. I felt it was best to leave when it was quiet, Jorus believes he is telling the truth about this.

As they get closer to their destination they enter a a curved corridor gallery of collected Marauder artifacts, ossuary containing marked Inheritor skull and bones (that should have been left at it's resting place), dozens of shard glass daggers, javelins and spears arranged in wall mounted displays. Lorne is mortified. He immediately begins to set about taking back what ever he can. Corr panickily tells him he will set off alarms and bring the Estates private security to investigate. Lorne does not care. After Corr apeals to jorus that they will miss their window to get the drugs (Corr says they have 15 minutes) Aayla will stay behind to try and deactivate the alarms and Lorne. The other will go with Corr and as they will come back this way they can use the sleds to collect more artifacts, or, at least that's what Lorne thinks. Lorne remarks Aayla is his only true friend.

Val, Lorn, Jorus and Corr arrive at the Doctors 'office', a large lushly appointed space with a consultation area, a treatment area and even a private surgery, there are expensive medical devices and scanners that would not seem out of place in a large hospital. No expense has been spared. From there they need to take the four repulsor sleds carrying the medicine to the ship. The creates vary in size and shape the largest being two meters long, about 50cm in height and about a meter across. The other crates share at least one dimension but are otherwise smaller. Corr immediately grabs one of them (the one with the largest crate on it) "Swiftly now" he says beginning to push the repulsor sled.

Session 42

Picus, dragging his transfuser and draped in a sheet is enthusiastically greeted by MN,  he wanders clearly spaced up up to Val and starts talking to him about a message he sent to his aunt.

The crew get Picus back to the lodger, There is a heated discussion between Val and Picus, Val uncharacteristically ends up slapping Picus when he doesn’t clearly .

Jorus sharpens him up with a stimulant and an isotonic liquid to help with the dehydration.

Picus confirms he sent a message to Val's Aunt and Val decides they need to leave immediately. Picus is stunned with a blaster.

Ursana discusses with the PCs the next move, recommending they leave in the morning instead of wandering through the Jungle at night.  The crew agree and return to the gathering.

At the gathering Aayla shares a story of Endor, Lorne shares tales from his Cadre.

Ursana and Lorne leave the gathering and go to the cenote pool where they talk and Ursana invites Lorne into the Umbrance having earlier cleared it with the Elders.

Lorne experiences the Dinoah Umbrance with Ursana and deep in it's depths he sees patterns of golden light from the moss growing on the walls he equates this with the swirling markings on his own shield.

At the gathering Val partakes of too much of the fermented moss drink and nearly has an altecation with one of the Inheritors after he dances with his sister. The situation is defused by Sicart.

In the predawn light before leaving the Commune Lorne, moved by the signs from the Umbrance gives his shield to Ursana who takes it as a pormise for his return and is  greatly moved by the gesture.

As the crew hike back to their ship

Picus tells the Crew the content of the message he sent to Val's Aunt.

Val tells Lorne and the others what happened to his family. Lorne asks him what he want to do about it.

Picus insists that his Aunt is worried about him and wants to help him and he should make contact with her.

Picus convinces himself he killed the Rancor.

If the PCs want to get back in contact with the Natives they must land the longhorn in the same place, Native patrols will watch the place, and within a few days at most they should make contact.

The Crew Take Picus to Buallaba and drop him, MN and his equipment off.

Epilogue Rolls:

Val: Tries to find out information about what is actually happening on Chibivaa, he is moved by Picus's words about his aunt to find out the truth for him self. He starts asking contacts quietly that help him uncover who was behind the attack on him and his parents. He learns little but he confirms that if the ship that attacked the crew at Typhon station is as Bounty Hunter the guild carefully guard the identity of their clients.

Aayla: Sets about repainting the ship so it is no longer identified as the longhorn, it will now be called… well there is some debate

Lorne: TBC

Jorus: Takes time to rest and recover from his time in the jungle.

Minor Milestone Awarded

Session 41

Val introduces the crew with a respectful approach considerate of the Inheritors views.

The elders lay out there views on how what should be done with the crew ranging from death to remaining with the Cadre.

Jorus provides logical arguments for why the crew are not like other outsiders. Aayla attempts to build a bridge of compassion with the Elders by sharing some of her past loss and saying that she is not even from the Rift. This is mixed, in the Inheritors eyes no one is from the Rift.

Lorne brings up the Crimson Cadre and how revenge and the old ways only lead to more blood shed and more hatred and persecution of the inheritors. His point is only partly taken and one of the more extreme elders even suggests working with the Crimson Cadre. The idea the Crew might be able to help the Cadre contact other cadre's is floated.

Val shifts views with his natural rapport, complimented by the bonds he has created in the crafting of his new Rancor cape.

Sicart the healer supports the crew by attacking one of the more extreme elders with logical arguments for leniency and how that would benefit the Cadre.

Lorne says that he will bring back Shardglass to the Cadre and will train them to fight with it he demonstrates his martial prowess overawing the Elders with his shardglass weapons and powerful presence.

The Cadre are pleased with this development and agree to let the Crew go with Lorne to return. Lorne becomes aware that the Cadre are not skilled with shardglass crafting and will need knowledge from outside if they are to put any shard glass he brings to good use, such as to make weapons. He will have to address this somehow as he does not know how to do this himself.

From the back of the crowd there is a murmur, as the crowd parts the Crew see partially naked Picus, trailing his still attached transfuser, "Where's Val? I must speak with Val…"

Session 40

The Crew are given a lodge to rest in, Picus is transferred to the Lodge and left in Jorus's care.

Aayla Jury rigs a burst transmitter using MN's sensor suite that should reach the longhorn and tell LH-0 to come and get them. But it's a short burst and there is no way of getting any confirmation back so they won't know it has worked until the Longhorn arrives.

Val talks to the animal materials crafter Girvaltz and in trade for a timepiece he sets about making a cape form the Rancor skin. Whilst he works Val shares the story of how they killed The Wraith, this earns him some begrudging respect from the Inheritor and his young son. Val also shows his shinny blaster to some Inheritor children and talk to others round the commune as he trades for food to eat back at the lodge, he is at least able to get the Inheritors to Tolerate him.

Whilst Jorus is watching over Picus, Picus wakes out and franticly urges him to Get Val (not Luca, Val) and proclaims he's gravely wounded and will die. Jorus gives him a sedative a knocks him out. When Val returns to the lodge later Jorus tells him what has happened by Val doesn't elaborate any further fearing his secret would be revealed to the rest of the Crew.

Lorne mediates in front of the Umbrance. After a while he is joined by Ursana Banchar. She tells him about their customs and ways of life and the two share an intimate tattoo reading. Lorne tries to make it clear to Ursana that he has a wife and child and isn't interested but it's not clear if she is dissuaded. Lorne and Ursana discus their relationship to the Bequethers, and Ursana finds it hard to understand what Lorne says about being contacted directly 'hearing' the Begethers, to the Dinoah Cadre they are only a legacy.

Val brings food back to the Lodge and the crew rest until sunset when the Trial will be held. Having returned to the lodge Ursana tells Lorne and the others about the five elders and that all voices can be heard at the council but the elders voices hold the most sway. Ursana says that if the Council can't come to an agreement then there are two other ways the matter might be settled, Trial By Shardglass and Guidance from the Bequethers. She explains how these work. The Crew and Ursana go to the meeting platform, the elders are seated stand in semicircle by the balcony edge looking out over the Cenote, the rest of the Cadre is gathered. Between the two stand the Crew and Ursana who will speak on their behalf.
